The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
The Nightingale tells the story of two sisters, Vianne and Isabelle, and their lives during World War II. Vianne, a mother, whose husband is away at war, is cautious yet passionate, and does whatever she can to protect her family. Her sister Isabelle is rebellious and bold and works for the Resistance, walking downed airmen across to safety.
This is a story of strength, endurance, sacrifice, bravery, and courage. The book explores the moral choices that both sisters had to face as they try to survive the brutal Nazi occupation.
What I Loved: I had heard of this book for awhile before I actually picked it up and it lived up to it’s expectations. It’s beautifully written, the author was vivid and honest in portraying the events that occurred. Personally I liked that this wasn’t fully focused on a love story, instead the love stories were woven into the plot.
What I Didn’t Love: I couldn’t find anything not to love about this book!
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
This book is for the one who: enjoys historical fiction, especially set during World War II, a story that focuses on female characters, and/or a story that digs deep into your emotions. Honesty historical fiction is not my favorite genre but I really enjoyed reading this book
